ImageIf Odo (love) were a person he/she will be rich because of royalties and copyright accruals. After many usage by senior musicians, in recent times three musicians have used Odo as their theme and gone on to win hearts and minds of music lovers.

It would be Obrafuor the rap osofuor who led the charge when he pledges to love Serwaa and pleads with her not to be swayed by gossips and hard times because good times lay ahead. The video for this song is solid with scenes showing a love letter being carried by a dove to the lover. Hammer of the last 2 does a good job beat wise as the sound is gripping and with Obrafuor in his element, it is little wonder that this Odo song remains one of the classics of hip life.

A maturing Samini would not be left out of the Odo craze. In the song, Samini becomes philosophical when he advises people who profess their love for others to do so in good faith and with good intent adding that when it’s time for marriage lovers should eschew violence, not make partners lonely, endeavor to make them okay and avoid telling lies “toli”.

Strong word play by the “Daagati” man and some good beat input from “Quick Action” who gives a mellow and energetic feel to the song. The video goes on to compliment the song earning Samini high praise and huge following.

As has been the case with earlier musicians, R2bees have been bitten by the Odo bug. In this song Mugeez appeals to a lady to know that she is the empress of his heart adding that she should not hold back her love but freely let her affections show. According to Mugeez he has abundant love for the lady but because the head is not pawpaw to easily see its contents, she might doubt the intensity of his love for her. He continues that his love should not listen to idle talk and not hold back her love for him nor share the love with others.

Paedae puts some great rap except where he uses the “b” word. Killbeatz out did himself with the beat he provided, truly etching him as a man for the future. So there it is, Odo (love) serving as one link between Obrafour, Samini and R2bees.
