ImageKeeping fit is in everybody’s interest and so the trend of people waking up to jog, run or walk is good news indeed. As Ghanaians strive to stay healthy, there is a trend which has caught my keen eyes.

It is members of political parties embarking on morning jogging to keep fit of course but to also whip up support for their parliamentary and presidential candidates.

From Ablekuma, Ridge, Kasoa to Dansoman the trend is on. It is a sight to behold when men/women, young/old dressed in party tee shirt; scarf and other paraphernalia chant party songs and slogans amid pouring sweat.

So far it is the NDC, NPP and the PPP which has been visible but the pleasant surprise was on last Saturday when a new style emerged where followers of the NDC, NPP and the PPP joined together to embark on a jog amid singing of the various parties songs and chants of mantras.

The sight arrested the attention of passengers, pedestrian and other road users who were heard praising the Kasoa group for their maturity and inventiveness.

The peace we have cannot be taken for granted but I do have trust in my fellow countrymen that there are many things which matter to us aside politics hence my believe that after December 7th we would have entrenched our political position whiles working to capture economic glory.
