It seemed a normal journey till events took a different turn at the Ako Adjei interchange when a bus transporting workers at the presidency to the seat of government toppled on the sides as a cargo truck hit it.
Of the 20 staff on board comprising Flagg Staff House workers, immigration personnel and artisans, a few suffered injuries of various degrees and have since been given medical attention.
A cargo truck from the Canadian Embassy portion of the road is said to have ran into the Mercedes Benz bus while ferrying the workers. Although the driver of the bus lost control he nonetheless managed to prevent the bus from toppling over which could have led to severe injuries or death.
The incident led to intense traffic on the stretch as commuter flow was halted to enable emergency services reach victims of the accident.
The driver of the truck reportedly said he had a brake failure and had to hit the bus from behind to stop his truck. He having sustained minor injuries on the cheek has secured a police report to seek medical attention at the Police Hospital.
