cop drugPossession of child pornography charges have been dropped for an officer accused of abusing underage boys. Officer James H. Edwards could hardly be taken as a criminal.

The 47-year-old had joined the police force at the age of 20 and had a fairly clean record.

It would have remained the same had the family of two underage boys not come forward to report grotesque details of his sexual encounters with the teenagers in 2014.

His first victim was the older sibling, a 16-year-old boy. He not only drugged the youth, but also showed him pornography, reports say.

Not yet satisfied, he decided to prey on the younger brother, according to reports.

He invited the boy to his home in order to help with some landscaping work and gave him a ride in his police squad car.

However, the job was the last thing on his mind. As soon as the pair reached Edwards’ house, the officer gave the underage boy “honey whiskey”, marijuana and an amphetamine with the street name “Molly”.

After serving this potent concoction, the cop showed his victim a pornographic movie on the Internet. Then he began touching and caressing the boy and masturbated, reports say.

When the victims came forth with their allegations the police investigated the matter and Edwards was placed under arrest.

In August 2014 he was charged with lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under the age of 16, lewd and lascivious exhibition of a child under 16 and possession of a controlled substance.

A search of his home found two capsules of Molly as well as marijuana.

Edwards admitted the allegations of masturbating in the victim’s presence and giving him marijuana and a Molly pill.

In February this year he was charged with possession of child pornography.

However, these charges were dropped earlier this week. No explanation has been offered by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.

His lawyer Michael Catalano, who also happens to be the officer’s friend, is trying to work out a plea deal for the other charges.

The attorney says he was taken aback when he heard the allegations last year.

“He’s just a good guy,” Catalano had said when Edwards was arrested.

He is determined to help out his friend, whom he has always liked and respected, as much as he can.

“It’s never fun to have a friend in trouble,” Catalano commented.
