The sixth season of the most outstanding television children’s show of the year, Amazing Child, premiered on TV Africa last Saturday. The two-hour entertainment programme is aimed at harnessing the talents of Ghanaian children to project the values and cultures of Ghana and Africa as a whole.
The premiere saw displays by some past contestants of Amazing Child, who also presented the three awards won by the programme at the recently held TV Awards festival.
In all, 20 participants, consisting of 40 talented children between the ages of 8 and 13 from across Ghana will compete, some as groups and others individually, in the next thirteen weeks.
The programme is set to be hosted by two young male and female presenters in Ghana who have promised to exhibit their skills in this season. Speaking in an interview with the news team, the Country Director of UNICEF, Susan Ngongi, and other dignitaries present commended TV Africa for coming up with such a programme to unearth the God-given talents of children in Ghana.
They however called for an enabling environment for more kids to grow their talents. According to the General Manager of TV Africa, Gyesiwa Ansah Amazing Child has come to stay, since the production team putting the programme together will not relent on its efforts to maintain its number one spot as the Best Children’s show on TV.
Parents, friends and well-wishers who trooped to the Akua Boatemaa Studios of TV Africa to catch a glimpse and cheer these “amazing children” said they were amazed by the performances of the children and expressed optimism that this year’s season will be the best.
The two judges of the programme were also elated by the kids’ performance, saying that it will be very difficult selecting the best since all the children showed intent in performing well.
