starsThe Black Stars are among 20 nations to be divided into five groups of four, with each group winner booking a place for the final tournament.

Ghana’s group opponents for the third round of the African zone 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers will be revealed on June 24, 2016, Caf and Fifa have both announced.

The phase is set to be the final hurdle after which Africa’s five representatives for the global showpiece to be hosted in Russia would be determined.

The draw is scheduled to hold at a special event at Caf’s headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

Having drawn a bye in the first round, Ghana began her quest for a fourth successive World Cup appearance with a 2-0 aggregate win over Comoros in the second round.

Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew both scored in the return encounter in Kumasi to confirm Ghana’s place, the first leg having ended in a scoreless draw in Mitsamiouli.

The procedures for the draw, including seeding and pot allocations, will be announced at a later date.

Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Congo, Guinea, DR Congo, Nigeria, Egypt, Mali, Uganda, Zambia, Gabon, South Africa, Morocco, Burkina Faso and Libya are the 20 teams still in the running for a place in Russia.

The third and final round of the qualifiers is set to run between October 2016 and November 2017.
