Speakers at Jayee Uni. College SRC Week celebrations

jayee2The Students Representative Council of Communication Institute, Jayee University College has marked its women’s day celebration with an empowerment seminar themed “The role of a woman towards national development.”

The seminar, which was held on the school premises, brought together various dignitaries from the field of politics, business and the arts.

Main speaker Obuobia Darko- Opoku addressing attendees advised young women to take up leadership roles and be ready to accept and overcome challenges which come their way.

The Aspiring Member of parliament for the Weija-Gbawe constituency added “there was the need for women to stay focused to achieve their ultimate goals”.

Also in attendance was the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Weija-Gbawe constituency who asked females to be guarded lest they fall victim to molesters adding there were was a need for policy makers to create a conducive environment so women can also contribute their quota to national development.

Other speakers included Hon Beatrice Asantewaa, Tetegu Assembly member, Gospel music sensation Mrs. Celestine Donkor and CEO of Asare-AB Company limited.

The SRC Women’s Commissioner explained the seminar was organised to empower female students to take up leadership roles in nation building efforts rather than limit their efforts to domestic chores.
