1. Using a Base Coat
If you want beautiful healthy looking nails you should always apply a base coat of clear polish before painting your nails. This will stop your nails from becoming stained. On that note, make sure to include a top coat too. This won’t prevent staining but it will help you get the most out of your manicure. Reapplying a top coat every few days will decrease the chance of chipping. Because really who has time for chipped nails after one day?
2. Fishy Diets
Like most things, diet will definitely play a part into how healthy your nails are. Nails are made from a protein called keratin just like your hair, so with these changes you’ll kill two birds with one stone. Adding supplements like fish oils and Vitamin E, A and C will keep your nails strong. If supplements aren’t your thing try including protein-rich foods into your diet instead. Foods like fish, nuts and beans are your best friend!
3. Strengthening Treatments
If you need an extra boost, you can buy strengthening treatments for your nails. You can choose between different serums, creams and polishes. Serums are usually more expensive but if you can afford to splash out they will produce the fastest and best results. Creams are great for everyday care, they’re quick, easy and you can do it right before bed and first thing in the morning for great nails in no time. Polishes are very affordable and will double up in uses by keeping your nail polish from chipping.
4. Rubber Gloves
Having your nails in contact with water for any prolonged amount of time will lead to them getting weak and splitting. When you’re washing dishes, using any harsh cleaning products, gardening or doing any general cleaning around the house, wear rubber gloves.
