Members of a church at Tema Community 8 in Accra had the shock of their lives when a doctor who secured the go ahead from church elders to organise Hepatitis B screening and vaccination turned out to be a fraud.

‘Dr.’ Wonder Hunu is said to have charged GH¢30.00 each from participants but his luck run out when officials from the Medical and Dental Council exposed and arrested him for court processing.

The Registrar of the Council narrated how the fake doctor had hoodwinked the unsuspecting public till his activities came to their notice leading to the arrest on the Sunday.

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that attacks the liver which can cause chronic infection putting people at high risk of death from cirrhosis and liver cancer. The vaccine is 95% effective in preventing infection and the development of liver cancer.
