The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that all presidential and parliamentary aspirants are to submit the bankers draft of their filing fees to the commission by noon today, Monday, October 10.

The presidential aspirants are to submit their payments to the returning officer at the EC Headquarters in Accra while the parliamentary aspirants submit their filing fees to returning officers at the district officers.

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) had filed a suit placing an injunction on the EC from receiving the filing fees leading the commission to only accept the nomination papers without the fees to avoid being in contempt of the High Court.

A later ruling however threw the injunction application out paving way for the EC to now demand the fees to complete the vetting process.

Presidential and parliamentary candidates in this year’s general election are required to pay GH¢50,000 and GH¢10,000, respectively.
