Accra based media outfit, TV3 Network Limited has dismissed 32 of its staff over acts it deemed inimical to the legal and profitable wellbeing of the company.
A signed statement by Chief Executive Officer, Jimi Matthews, dated February 28, 2017 noted:
“The actions included, but was not limited to, writing threatening statements on a staircase threatening dire action, hoisting of red flags on the transmission mast, and other places inside the premises, and subsequently wearing red attire and armbands signifying support for the disruption of the work process.”
Some aggrieved staff are reported to have embarked on an industrial action but management holds “without serving notice of their intentions to management, and without providing management with an opportunity to engage with the aggrieved personnel,” it could not continue to work with the staff drawn from marketing and editorial departments.
The strike reportedly spanned one week.
