Some expected him to announce his retirement from active football duties but former Ghana international, Lyon, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Panathinaikos player, Michael Essien believes there is still power in his legs signing for Indonesian Liga 1 giants, Persib Bandung.

The 34-year-old whose last stint with Greek side Panathinaikos was blighted by injuries signed the one-year deal explaining: “The project will…you know take the club to the next level, that is why I make my decision. I wish I could be the start of world players grazing pitches in Indonesia. Hopefully this is a good beginning for Indonesia and Persib football.”

He has been officially introduced to players and fans.
