hon-bawa-kkkDisc jockey, Abdul Rasheed Seidu Bawa of Enuanom 105.1 FM in the central regional town of Agona Swedru is not a happy man. The tall lean man fondly called Hon. Bawa believes award schemes aimed at rewarding disc jockeys must be equitable to regional DJs as well as the city folks.

In an emotional outburst on his ‘Edwuma Mu Enigye’ show on March 28, 2017, Bawa lambasted organisers of the 2017 Ghana DJ Awards for nominating undeserving characters while his good self and other skilled and hardworking DJs were ignored.

“….what type of bogus awards scheme is this? You nominated radio presenters who can’t play songs for Regional DJ category. We are tired of awards organisers. Foklex Media Awards did a mischief and nominated ‘babies’ on their awards for Central Region, CMA did same who are we deceiving, the most upsetting part of this DJs Awards is someone plays 4 hours on air every day, plays at events, pubs but doesn’t get a nomination rather someone who is on air once in a week and can’t DJ gets a nomination,” he fumed.

He further stated some DJs who made it to of Central Region DJ of the Year nominations list are radio presenters who can’t even play songs with a DJing software.

Honourable Bawa is demanding an explanation why radio presenters got nominated in an award scheme for DJs adding “the criteria for the DJ awards must be made known.”

The peeved DJ was hoping to be nominated for the Central Region DJ of the Year, Mixtape DJ of the Year, Hiplife DJ of the Year and Discovery of the year but the Ghana DJ Awards folks excluded him.
