Mass death was averted by chance when an articulated truck crashed into about 16 vehicles at Accra New Town’s ‘Commando’ area on Monday.
But by happen-chance, the 16 vehicles were without occupants as they were parked by the roadside while their owners attended to their chores in their business centres and offices.
Eyewitnesses say the driver of the beans distribution truck had lost control when his brake failed while descending from a hill and would have caused extensive havoc had a driver of a police truck not used his truck’s behind to halt the menacing truck.
Two persons however sustained injuries for which they received treatment and have since been discharged.
Meanwhile, the Police have towed all the affected vehicles to the Nima Police station for further investigation.
