Returnee coach, Kwesi Appiah, whose been handed a two-year mandate to qualify Ghana to the 2018 World Cup and also win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations has landed in the nation’s capital to rapturous welcome.
The Al Khartoum coach till his Black Stars second stint appointment, was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials including Sannie Daara, journalists and football enthusiasts.
For Appiah, it felt good to be back noting:
“It’s always great to be back home. Every Ghanaian would love to be at home and contribute to the development of the country. I’m overwhelmed, I didn’t expect such a huge welcome. I appreciate everyone who made time to be here.
“I always believe that the voice of the people is the voice of God. I want to thank the President of this country, the president of the Ghana Football Association and all Ghanaians for giving me the second chance to coach the national team.
“I will do the best I can but I can’t do it without the help of Ghanaians. So am calling on everyone to support me in my quest to achieve success for the Black Stars.”
He begins work on May 1.
