Notable sports journalist Christopher Opoku is dead. News of his demise went viral on varied social media platforms on May 10 with sports administrators, journalists and stunned fans wishing the family strength in this crucial time.

Mr. Opoku who was also a classroom teacher veered into sports reporting having stints at Luv FM in Kumasi, Asempa FM, state broadcaster GTV, Metro TV, TV3, Power FM and Citi FM all in Accra.

Chris had revealed in 2013 that he was battling an ailment which thanks to his relation at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi received care for but images soon appeared of the once plump Chris looking thin raising suspicion the affliction was still ravaging his body.

He was said to have cancer of the rectum. He is survived by a wife and three female daughters.
