Lapaz robbery scene

Two policemen on community patrol incurred the wrath of two suspected criminals who had just robbed a man from the BT Bank at Lapaz in Accra on Thursday.

In a daring move which stunned onlookers, the two robbers are reported to have executed heir misdeed but when they sighted the policemen who were minding their business, fired on them and attempted using the police motorbike to escape. When they failed to ignite the motorcycle, in true Hollywood movie style pointed a gun at a Hyundai Elantra driver forcing him out and using the vehicle to escape.

The suspected robbers, reports suggest were later apprehended at Kasoa and are being interrogated by at the Accra-Regional Police Command for more details however one policeman died while the other is responding to treatment at the Police Hospital.

This attack has raised questions as to if the Ghana policeman/woman is well equipped to fight back given the hazards of the job.

One of the two policemen could be seen in a video of the shooting taken by a ‘trotro’ passenger running for dear life from the scene.
