If there was ever a series of eventful days for Shatta Wale, it must be from his October 17 birthday when he turned 33.
You see on the big day, Shatta Wale invited relatives, notables fans and dignitaries to share in his joy at his home where there was much to drink and eat.
In session was former Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for the Kpone Katamanso Constituency; Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Shatta’s US promoter, key fan; Shatta Kumodzi and music colleauge, Sister Afia who rendered the birthday tune.
Also in attendance was his wife, Michy and his two wards who helped in slicing the birthday cake.
In high spirits, Shatta Wale rendered: “One of the best moments of life is … (being) with friends and family.”
However a rowdy fan was quickly reminded by Wale to be of good behaviour else would be ejected from the party grounds and even beaten if he doesn’t comport himself.
To spice things up for Wale, President Akufo-Addo just as he did last year, sent Wale a birthday note on twitter and Facebook throwing an invite to him to visit the Flagstaff House for which Shatta responded he was delighted to do so adding “he was coming like kakai.”
The president delivering the message in the pidgin language also engaged the attention of many.
A day after his earthday, the ‘Ayoo’ singjay took to the streets of Nima, where he’s cultivated key following to share in his joy. Partnered by Beverage Company; Kasapreko, Shatta and his crew interacted with women, young ladies and guys who’ve loved him even before he got his second major breakthrough.
Some fans got money as bundles of cash were thrown into the crowd while packs of non-alcoholic beverages got distributed as well.
Shatta Movement (SM) soldiers including Pope Skinny, Sekley Moses were all in session as their president interacted with the fans on the street and at the Nima market.
Never one to play with his security, Wale ensured policemen with rifles were on hand to coordinate his movements.
Surely it’s a scene former disciples; D-Sherif and Ara B wouldn’t be pleased with, seeing hundreds of fans eager to catch a glimpse of their icon whom they’ve fallen out with but this show of force will send the message so clearly that Wale is not ready to give up his throne and crown.
In a Facebook post, Shatta Wale will later recount: “Thank God for a successful day with the fans, mothers in the market & kids on the street. Many thanks to Kasapreko for supporting.”
As if these events weren’t enough, the music producer and dancehall notable was gifted a brand new G -Wagon by EIB CEO; Bola Ray and EIB financial don; Dr. Dufuor Jnr; and of course social media had to hear of the good news and Wale couldn’t be more ecstatic adding a hint that there might just be a new record company in the country named EIB Records with him being the first signed artist to rival Zylofon Music which has snapped Ghanaian music notables including Stonebwoy and Becca.
Time will definitely tell all.
