Adom TV, a channel on the Multi TV platform run by the Multimedia Group hit big with their Indian telenovela titled Kumkum Bhagya when they assembled a Ghanaian team to voice-over the script from the Indian language used to Twi.

On the back of the popular series aired every weekday; the channel managers have been able to attract sponsors like ants to honey but man is often not satisfied; so work was put in to have the stars of the series Abhi, Pragya, Tanu and others come to Ghana to interact with their fans.

So on Friday at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra, the Kumkum Bhagya stars, including Abhi, Pragya, Tanu, Aliya and others touched down and were officially welcomed at the Airport by the Multimedia Group Kumkum team led by host Tima Kumkum.

The power of television was evident as security officers, visitors waiting for their loved ones at the airport all took out phones to snap the Indian actors who have become popular in the country.

They were then driven to the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra where they interacted with some fans and other notables.

According to a promo run on Adom TV, the Indian actors are in the country for the Kumkum Showdown, which will see them meet fans at the Accra Sports Stadium, Baba Yara Sports Stadium and Tamale Sports Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively.

But controversially, fans of the show had to fork out GHc600 for a one-on-one interaction with the Kumkum Bhagya stars, a photo session and also enjoy a dinner with the Indian stars amid live band music. Many expressed displeasure with the sum reckoning it was exorbitant.

The disaffection must have counted as the Accra Stadium tour failed to attract fans in their numbers. Nonetheless the show proceeded with Pragya, Tanu and Aliya mounting the stage to put up a few antics with actor cum rapper; Liwin spicing things up with his music.
