The minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Otiko Afisa Djaba has inaugurated the Adoption Board of the Central Adoption Authority (C.A.A) of the Ministry.

The Adoption Board is to provide direction and advice to the Minister on issues, measures and interventions that would ensure that the best interest of the child is upheld in the process of a child entering into care, adoption as well as the post adoption period.

It is also to ensure the safeguards are observed by:

– Upholding the fundamental human rights of the child

– Cooperation among states to prevent abduction, sale and trafficking of children

– Recognition of adoptions made in accordance with the convention by all state parties to the Convention and States in bi-lateral relationship with Ghana.
