Nana Akenten Appiah-Menkah

The death has been announced of seasoned lawyer, politician and industrialist; Nana Akenten Appiah-Menkah in Kumasi on Monday night aged 84.

Mr. Appiah–Menkah was the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region and a Minister of State in the Busia Regime.

He was also a member of the Constitution Review Commission set up by late Professor J. E. A. Mills’ administration.

The New Patriotic Party which views Mr. Appiah–Menkah as a founding member of the party issued a statement signed by Acting General Secretary; John Boadu noting the financial and other contributions of the fallen business tycoon to the party’s cause.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
