When it ended pretty and articulate damsel Akpene Diata Hoggar shrugged off keen challenge from nine other finalists to emerge the 2018 Miss Universe Ghana (MUG) queen.
Akpene, had taken the MUG step on July 5, 2018 at the La Villa Boutique Hotel in Accra full of hope and dreams and on Saturday, September 15, 2018; realized her desire to be ultimate queen at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
In her thank you speech, the new queen submitted: “I will remember this moment for the rest of my life.”
The Brong Ahafo Region representative delighted the gathering and impressed judges Shirley Frimpong Manso, Yvonne Nelson, Sean Guy, Miss Reykjavik (Miss Universe Iceland), Manuela Osk (Miss Universe 2003 contestant), and Emmanuel Kojo-Jones Mensah culminating her scooping 128 points.
First-runner up was Vanessa Tekor Akuetteh who got 111 points with Silvia Commodore bagging 108 points as second runner-up.
For her prize, Akpene took home the crown, a brand new car, one-year contract with the Lab Modeling Agency in Milan, Italy; one-year contract as the Face of ‘So Aesthetic’, one-year supply of GTP fabrics, makeup products for one year, GHS10,000 worth of shoes from Shoe Zone and one- year hair services and spa treatments by First Choice Beauty Salon.
Akpene; a Ashesi University product will also represent Ghana at the Miss Universe Beauty pageant set for Bangkok, Thailand on December 17, 2018
