Ahead of the Radio and Television Personality Awards (RTP) held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday October 6, 2018 to celebrate and award media personalities, a music act billed to perform Okomfuo Kwadee embarked on a media tour to show his face so to speak after hibernating for some time.
Brain behind RTP Awards, Prince Mackay submitted Kwadee had done so much for Ghana’s music industry and needed to be celebrated and not shunned hence billing him for the show ahead of his European tour.
Reports had emerged that the dangerous lyricist had lost control of his faculties and had been detained in a mental home thanks to abuse of drugs.
At the 8th edition of the RTP Awards however Kwadee wowed the crowd taking them through his hit songs through the years.
After the show, Kwadee told journalist Edward Blagogee that he needed for his fans to see him strong so was delighted with the opportunity but was unenthused about the DJ who attempted messing up his show.
The articulate veteran rapper also revealed he was done with a new album which he will be released soon warning however that he was not a fan of features as he must come out on his own terms.
According to Kwadee born Jerry Anaba his music is for the matured mind spanning chiefs, society’s notables and discerning people so folks can expect a good product from him.
Stacy Amoateng scooped the topmost award of the night, the ‘RTP personality of the Year’ and also taking home the ‘TV Female Presenter of the Year’ prize.
Big Event Ghana produced the show which also saw performances from Kidi, Kuami Eugene and Wendy Shay.
The Navrongo native cultivated hardcore followers with tracks such as ‘Wo Taatame’, ‘Kwaadee’, ‘Aboro ne Bayie’, ‘Ataa Adwoa’ and ‘Ka Wo Nan To So.’
