The Catholic Church has an atrocious history. Be it killing people who didn’t share their viewpoint about the earth or faith. With the enslavement of melanated people also they’ve had a horrid role. Apologies have emerged from the church regarding its part in some of these epochs.
And recently, a buzz was generated online when a Jamaican with dreadlocs was ordained as a priest at a Catholic parish in Canada.
Its rare to see a man in locs appearing in catholic robe. To top it up Rev. Father Leandre Syrieix also bears tattoos he notes were gotten two years before being ordained as a priest adding they bear religious significance.
Syrieix according to reports was ordained at Limoilou Quebec in Saint-François-de-Laval diocese. The Philosophy and Theology graduate of Laval University is also a material engineer. Of his nature, he is described as amiable.
