Tracy with Sark, Kwaw Kese and Kelvyn Boy

As Darryl Paa Kwesi Bannerman-Martin alias Joey B makes the revelation that he’s never smoked cigarette, cigar nor weed, adding that he’s also avoided intake of hard liquor be it whisky, brandy, vodka, gin or rum, Blakkpepper is intrigued regarding his colleagues who drink like fishes and smoke like chimneys.

Then there’s Shatta Movement leader Shatta Wale who announced he’s quit cigarette smoking but couldn’t contain the urge and was soon seen taking long drags from his cigarette in the studio while making music and daringly enjoying a blunt in his newly released 1 Don video.

Stonebwoy is another guarded artiste who takes great pain to avoid being seen enjoying a smoke yet it’s well understood he uses the herb.

Of the 4 biggest ‘S’ names in Ghana’s music space, it was Sarkodie whose status was unclear as he was at ease rather taking Champagne in his videos till recent photos showed him holding a cigar in the company of his wife.

King Promise has a boyish look and for a while it was not clear if he smoked but Joey B and Sarkodie’s ‘Cold’ video settled the debate when Promise was seen taking drags from his cigar.

The ‘Cold’ video also identified EL as another cigar loving notable. Dee Moneey is on this unique list as are the R2Bees duo of Mugeez and Paedae. There’s talk their ingrained love for the herb has satiated their hunger to produce more albums and singles for the consumption of music lovers. On that score however Bob Marley although loved his herb, was equally productive and churned out volumes of work.

Online chatter fingers famed vocalist Efya as another lover of the herb. After all it’s for the healing of the nation ‘no be so’? Medikal loves his Hennessey and then his cigar.

Well, you know about Agona Swedru native Kwaw Kese’s brush with the law which led him to see the inside of a jail house. Jupitar and Kelvyn Boy have deep respect for the Kush as does Guru for cigars.

M.anifest, Pop Skinny, Reggie Rockstone and Pappy Kojo are all part of the blazing fraternity. Of course these are functioning adults and things they indulge in for pleasure, to let their creative juices flow or to help preserve their sanity is their business, our business is also to inform you. After all, there those who can drink like fishes yet not get drowned or become drunk and those who can smoke like chimneys without a breakdown. It’s all a matter of capacity, experience and one’s body resilience.
